Gallery owner, Susan Mae Hull, is an award winning artist, specializing in Chinese brush painting & western watercolor technique. She has been a professional calligrapher since 1975, when she first established Ladybug Art.  Her true passion is the combination of watercolor painting and the classical art of beautiful handwriting, which is reflected in her work.  Chosen to letter the invitations when the Queen of England inaugurated the New Old Globe Theatre at Balboa Park in San Diego, Ms. Hull has created everything from invitations to Proclamations for countless individuals & corporations; from handmade books to certificates for most of the colleges & universities in San Diego & too much more to mention.

In 1997 she opened Artists’ FORUM, a venue for local artists to show their work.  Artists’ FORUM shows original paintings of local California artists in all mediums and all levels, from emerging to professional artist.  Ms. Hull also shows her own paintings in the gallery.

Hull is a third generation native San Diegan.  She holds an Associate of Arts degree, with honors, in Fine Arts and has also studied extensively with masters in various art disciplines.  She has taught for many years with the community school system, the Girl Scouts, the Learning Annex & many more.  She now teaches only by private instruction from her Kensington Studio. 

Artists’ FORUM is located at 4070 Adams Avenue in Kensington, one block east of highway 15, just south of Qualcomm Stadium.  The studio is open BY APPOINTMENT   10 to 5 everyday but Sunday.  Call (619) 563-0082 for your appointment.                               We are happy to answer your questions by telephone.
